Award-winning swim school to open unique facility this fall!

WINNIPEG, March 2, 2020 – the H2O Academy will open a new location in the McCreary Business Park at McCreary Road and McGillivray Boulevard. Targeted to open in the fall of 2020, the H2O Academy will feature a warm and inviting 90-degree Fahrenheit teaching pool. This will be the first pool built by a private swim school for expert learn-to-swim instruction in Manitoba. “With the temporary closure of Bonivital Pool and the threat of several other pool closures, we are proud to be able to provide important programming for our community as well as relieve our long waiting lists” said the Co-founders and Co-Owners Kaley Maksymyk and Krista Morden.

The H2O Academy will continue to provide developmentally appropriate water safety and swimming lessons for students ages 4 months to adults using AQUA-Lit™ Curriculum©, which was created by the H2O Co-founders. “As previous High-Performance Artistic (Synchronized) Swimming Coaches, we realized that many public swimmers and athletes lacked efficiency and basic swimming skills, so we created the H2O Academy” said Morden.

“Swimming is an essential life skill, so we don’t pass or fail our students. Our highly trained staff use an improvement scale that we developed with aquatic and education experts to keep learning fun and eliminate dropping out” said Maksymyk. “We focus on much more than checking boxes and we don’t hand out badges; we equip students with the right attitude and exceptional technique, which is the gateway to safely enjoying a lifetime of activities around the water!”

H2O is the only swim school in Winnipeg which has gone completely paperless as registration, class management, planning, and assessing is done online with software that clients can access. In addition to learn-to-swim classes, the H2O Academy will also be offering innovative programming such as mermaid experiences, Aqua-Zumba®, and introductory aquatic sport classes.
