Miss Kayla has been an employee at H2O Academy since 2016 and has worked in various teaching and supervising roles before taking on her current role as General Manager. Kayla strives to create a positive, fun, and encouraging environment for H2O’s students of all ages and is always happy to share her love for the water with others.
Kayla is a former synchronized swimmer and competed for over 10 years before retiring her athletic career to pursue her love for coaching. She is recognized as an NCCP-Competition Development Certified Coach from the Coaching Association of Canada and coached artistic (synchronized) swimming for 8 years. Kayla has experience working with athletes of all ages from beginner, to high performance athletes. Some of the highlights from Kayla’s coaching career include working as the Assistant Coach and Manager for Team Manitoba at the 2019 Canada Winter Games and working with Winnipeg Artistic Swimming’s High-Performance Team.
Kayla’s passion for physical activity eventually led her to complete a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of Manitoba, where she continued to study physical literacy and athletic development. Along with this, Kayla studied a Minor in Psychology, where she learned about exposure therapy and behavioural modification techniques that assist her in training her clients to overcome their fears and trauma related to swimming!
