Miss Katie is a Teacher and Lifeguard at the H2O Academy. Katie’s love for swimming started at a young age while spending summers at her family cabin in Grand Beach Provincial Park. Katie began lessons at a young age and continued with training three times a week though she never competed. She completed many leadership levels through The Canadian Red Cross, including becoming a first aid and CPR instructor. Though it is on hold right now, Katie is a supervisor for Swimmingly Manitoba in charge of planning and running the south end swimming lessons for swimmers with diverse needs. She has finished her undergraduate degree in human geography and has just completed her fourth year of student teaching through the University of Winnipeg Education program. Once completing her education degree, Katie plans to continue her education to help students who have different needs in elementary classrooms, including those struggling with English language arts and math as well as those with special needs.
